The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan congratulated the Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic on the feast of Oraza Ait

20 March 2026. The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, congratulated the Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, Supreme Mufti Nauryzbai Kazhy Taganuly, on the feast of Oraza Ait:

Esteemed Mufti Hazret!

I cordially congratulate you and all Muslims of Kazakhstan on the sacred feast of Oraza Ait!

The centuries-old traditions of Islam of the Hanafi madhhab are an integral part of the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Kazakhstan. The present celebration – marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan – reminds Muslims of the feat of faith, teaches sacrificial love toward one’s neighbor and calls for mercy.

As the Head of State, the highly respected Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev, has said: «The feast of Oraza Ait deeply resonates with the primordial values of our people. Both our religion and our traditions call citizens to unity, solidarity and mutual respect».

Today, the Muslim community makes considerable efforts to promote in our society the ideas of good neighborliness and religious tolerance, contributing to the strengthening of spiritual and moral foundations.

On the blessed land of Kazakhstan, Muslims and Christians from ancient times to the present day have lived in peace and brotherly love, laboring for the spiritual strength of the country, defending its sacred borders and strengthening its statehood.

May God grant that peace and unity continue to reign across the ancient expanses of the Great Steppe.

I wish you, esteemed Mufti Hazret, and all Muslims of the Republic of Kazakhstan health, strength, peace, long life and the help of the Almighty in your life’s path.
