In accordance with ancient traditions, Nauryz Meyramy is celebrated in Kazakhstan on 21–23 March. Since 2001, it has had the status of a public holiday.
The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on Nauryz:
The Eastern New Year, which has a centuries-old history, symbolizes the close connection of times and generations and occupies a special place in the life of Kazakhstanis – this bright feast is a nationwide celebration of spring renewal, peace and friendship.
The celebration of the wonderful feast of Nauryz is in harmony with the main task facing the people of Kazakhstan – the building of a prosperous state on the firm foundation of unity and brotherly love.
Nauryz, symbolizing solidarity and mutual understanding among peoples, plays an important role in uniting our society and is equally dear to all Kazakhstanis.
On this festive day, I wish all the people of Kazakhstan health, well-being and success in their labors, and to our common home – the blessed Kazakhstan – peace and prosperity.
The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan sent greetings on the occasion of Nauryz Meyramy to the President of Kazakhstan K.-J.K. Tokayev, the leadership of the country, members of parliament, and akims of regions and cities.
