May 24, 2026 – the feast of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius, Teachers of the Slavs, the name day of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’.
The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, sent a congratulatory address to His Holiness, which reads:
Your Holiness, Most Holy Vladyka!
Kindly accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of Your name day – the celebration of the memory of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius, Teachers of the Slavs!
More than a thousand years ago, through the labors and spiritual struggles of the Thessalonian brothers, the Slavic peoples embraced Orthodoxy. Bearing upon Your shoulders the Primatial omophorion – a symbol of responsibility for millions of human souls, You follow the example of Your Heavenly patron, bearing witness to the truth of Christ, unceasingly calling the people of God to works of love and mercy, to life according to the commandments of Christ the Savior, while vigilantly standing firm in the steadfast preservation of the Orthodox faith.
Through Your selfless service, You present to us an example of ascetic labor and inspire us to continue our efforts in the fields of missionary and educational ministry.
On this solemn day for You and for all Orthodox Christians, I respectfully ask You, Your Holiness, to accept wishes for robust health, God’s help, and the intercession of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril in Your lofty Primatial ministry for the good of the Holy Church.
Your Kazakhstan flock, with one mouth and one heart, offers fervent prayers to God that the Lord may strengthen You for many years to preach the Gospel of the “Kingdom of God come with power” (Mark 9:1).
Many good and blessed years to You!
