14 April 2026. Alma-Ata. On Bright Tuesday, the feast of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God – the patronal feast day of the Iveron-Seraphim Women’s Monastery – Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan presented Abbess Lyubov (Yakushkina), superior of the monastery, with the Order of “Alǵys” (“Gratitude”).
The abbess was awarded this high distinction in recognition of her zealous labors for the benefit of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan and in connection with a significant anniversary of her birth.
Congratulating the abbess, the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan noted in particular:
“For more than twenty years now, you have borne the responsible obedience of abbess of the Iveron-Seraphim Monastery in the city of Alma-Ata, which has been revived through your unceasing labors. Today this oldest women’s monastery has become one of the most revered pilgrimage sites. You preserve monastic traditions, do much for the spiritual growth of the sisters entrusted to your care, and diligently oversee the beautification of this holy monastery.
You carry out your ministry with sincerity, setting an example of spiritual steadfastness, devotion to the Church, and faithfulness to your calling. I prayerfully wish you strong health, peace, and many years of life. I raise prayers to the New Martyrs and Confessors of Christ who shone forth in the land of Kazakhstan for your well-being. May the All-Merciful Lord grant you His gracious help in your further abbatial service and preserve you for many good years!”
After the presentation of the award, the archpastor presented Abbess Lyubov with a bouquet of flowers.
