Participants in the Commemoration of Venerable Sebastian in Karaganda Laid Flowers at the Monument to the Holy Elder

April 19, 2026. Karaganda. Following the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Life-Giving Trinity and Venerable Confessor Sebastian of Karaganda, participants in the celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the repose of the holy elder laid flowers at his monument, installed on the cathedral square.

The celebrations were led by the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan.

At the monument to the elder, the hierarchs and clergy performed Paschal troparia and the magnification to the saint.

Together with the Metropolitan, the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the saint was attended by: Archbishop Sebastian of Karaganda and Shakhtinsk; Archbishop Amphilochius of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk; Bishop Ignatius of Aktobe and Kyzylorda; Vicar of the Astana Diocese Bishop Claudian of Taldykorgan; Bishop Chrysanf of Shymkent and Turkestan; Dean of the capital’s parishes Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev); a spiritual child and disciple of Venerable Elder Sebastian – the confessor of the Nativity of the Theotokos Monastery, Schema-Archimandrite Pachomius (Goroshko); clergy who arrived with the visiting hierarchs; and clergy of the Karaganda Diocese.
