April 28, 2026. The archpastoral visit of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan to the Petropavlovsk and Bulayevo Diocese of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District has begun.
Accompanying Metropolitan Alexander on the visit is the President of the public foundation “Eleos-Meirim,” V.M. Kapsamun.
The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan is also accompanied by the Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Metropolitan District, Priest Georgy Sidorov, and the Metropolitan’s assistant I. Yatsenko.
At the international airport of the city of Petropavlovsk, the hierarch and the accompanying delegation were met by Bishop Vladimir of Petropavlovsk and Bulayevo, Secretary of the Petropavlovsk Diocesan Administration Archpriest Sergiy Pervushin, Deputy Akim of the North Kazakhstan Region Zh.R. Zhumagulov, and Head of the Department for Religious Affairs of the North Kazakhstan Region R.I. Kasenova.
The program of the archpastor’s stay in the capital of Northern Kazakhstan includes a visit to the Orthodox Gymnasium named after St. Sergius of Radonezh and the Humanitarian-Technical College; meetings with teachers and students; meetings with the diocesan bishop, clergy, members of parish councils, and regional authorities; as well as visits to churches and the diocesan museum.
On April 29, Wednesday of the 3rd week after Pascha, Metropolitan Alexander will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the Ascension Cathedral in Petropavlovsk. The service will begin at 8:00.
