Domes and Crosses Installed on the Under-Construction Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Alma-Ata

May 22, 2026. Alma-Ata. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, domes and crosses have been installed on the church under construction in honor of the Holy Unmercenary Healers Cosmas and Damian of Rome. Earlier, on April 4, Lazarus Saturday, they were blessed by the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan.

Before the raising of the domes and crosses, the rector of the church, Priest Andrei Shklyar, served a prayer service for the blessing of every good work. Members of the parish community joined the rector in prayer.

The Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian is being built in the Southern Capital through charitable ktitor support and donations from the faithful, with the direct support and participation of the Eleos-Meirim Public Foundation, headed by its president, Vladimir Mikhailovich Kapsamun.
