From June 5 to 7, 2026, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, will undertake a pilgrimage to the holy sites of the Vyatka land.
On June 6, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, Metropolitan Alexander will preside over the spiritual celebrations in honor of the appearance of the Velikoretsk Icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker at the Velikaya River.
The Divine Liturgy at the Velikaya River will begin at 9:30 a.m.
On June 7, the Sunday of All Saints, His Eminence will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at Holy Trinity Church in the village of Volkovo.
The Head of the Metropolitan District will visit the Dormition Cathedral, St. Seraphim Cathedral, the Savior Cathedral, the Transfiguration (Spaso-Preobrazhensky) Convent, the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Makarye, and Holy Trinity Church in the village of Medyany.
The program of Metropolitan Alexander’s visit includes a meeting with Metropolitan Mark of Vyatka and Slobodskoy, Head of the Vyatka Metropolitanate, as well as meetings with clergy, representatives of state authorities, and members of the public.
