Petropavlovsk Celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the Orthodox Gymnasium Named after St. Sergius of Radonezh

June 6, 2026. Petropavlovsk. A celebration marking the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Orthodox Gymnasium named after St. Sergius of Radonezh took place at the educational institution.

The solemn event was presided over by Archbishop Vladimir of Petropavlovsk and Bulaevo.

Participating in the celebration were: secretary of the diocesan administration Archpriest Sergiy Pervushin; rector of the Methodius Church Priest Mikhail Berezin; dean of the Church of All Saints Priest Antoniy Shuvakin; head of the diocesan prison ministry department Hieromonk Seraphim (Maximov); rector of the Church of the Archangel Michael in the village of Arkhangelskoye Priest Roman Pudov; steward of the Ascension Cathedral Deacon Vladimir Bartol; the administration, teachers, students, and graduates of the gymnasium, as well as parents of the pupils.

Archbishop Vladimir addressed those gathered with welcoming remarks. Vladyka congratulated the teaching staff and students of the school on this significant milestone, noting the gymnasium’s substantial contribution to the spiritual and moral upbringing of the younger generation and to the preparation of young people for responsible service to the Church and the Fatherland.

For diligence in mastering the school curriculum and exemplary conduct, the archpastor awarded outstanding students with episcopal certificates of merit and commemorative gifts.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, awards of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan were presented to teachers, staff members of the gymnasium, and parents of students. In recognition of their labors in the field of education, the following individuals received awards: the “For Labors” order was presented to S.P. Ivanova, executive director of the gymnasium; and the Order of St. Sophronius (Sokolsky), Archbishop of Turkestan and Tashkent, Enlightener of Semirechye, was awarded to I.Yu. Samoilova, deputy director for academic affairs.

The festive program continued with a concert prepared by the students of the school and creative ensembles of the city. Performers included: the episcopal choir of the Diocese of Petropavlovsk and Bulaevo; soloists of the Akhan Sery Regional Philharmonic Dinara and Askhat Taushev; and prizewinners of the Kazakhstan Championship in sport dancing, Ruslan Nurmukhametov and Emilia Kolesnikova.

At the conclusion of the event, a group photograph was taken.
