June 9, 2026. Sergiev Posad. Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan made a pilgrimage to the Holy Trinity–St. Sergius Lavra.
Accompanying the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan on the pilgrimage were: secretary of the Metropolitan District, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan and Honored Artist of Russia, member of the Patriarchal Council for the Development of Russian Church Singing O.N. Ovchinnikov; vice-rector of the Alma-Ata Theological Seminary, Candidate of Theology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, Hegumen Agafangel (Gagua); head of the protocol service Protodeacon Roman Golovin; deputy head of the Secretariat of the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation N.V. Parshikova; and assistant to the metropolitan I.E. Yatsenko.
Upon arriving at the Lavra, the metropolitan served a moleben before the honorable relics of the Abbot of the Russian Land, St. Sergius of Radonezh, which repose in the Trinity Cathedral of the monastery. The hierarch venerated the numerous holy objects and relics of saints preserved in the Serapion Chamber and the Nikon Chapel, including the relics of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called, the Protomartyr Archdeacon Stephen, a portion of the Robe of the Mother of God, a stone from the Holy Sepulchre, and the head of St. Isaiah of Rostov.
Before the holy treasures of the monastery, the archpastor offered fervent prayers for the episcopate, clergy, monastics, and faithful of the Metropolitan District, and for peace and prosperity in Kazakhstan.
Within the walls of the Lavra, the hierarch also met and spoke with a pilgrimage group from the Ural Diocese.
