Kazan Cathedral in Alma-Ata Hosts Celebrations Marking the Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity

July 19, 2026 – Alma-Ata. Following the Divine Liturgy at Kazan Cathedral, celebrations dedicated to the Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity were held in the Legends of the Peoples of Kazakhstan Park with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan.

The event was organized by the Culture Commission of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District (Chair – L.E. Goricheva, Honored Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation), the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the “You Are Needed by the World” project, and the Eleos-Meirim Public Foundation (President – V.M. Kapsamun).

Among those attending the celebration were clergy, parishioners from the churches of the Southern Capital, representatives of public organizations, large families, and residents of Alma-Ata.

Words of greeting were delivered by Priest Georgy Rublinsky, rector of Kazan Cathedral; Priest Bogdan Boyko, head of the “You Are Needed by the World” project; and M.S. Simakova, Head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This was followed by a presentation ceremony for the “For Love and Fidelity” Medal, awarded to married couples who have been in a registered marriage for more than twenty-five years. On behalf of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the awards were presented to families who have made a significant contribution to preserving traditional family values, raising children, and serving the community.

The formal ceremony was followed by a concert featuring Amira Kalimullina, soloist of Yulia Kasatkina’s ensemble, who performed the Russian folk dance “Barynya”; Marina Granova, Honored Artist of Kazakhstan, who performed the song “Hymn of the Family”; and an instrumental music duet.

Throughout the celebration, children and adults were able to visit the exhibition “A Large Family – the Foundation of Great Talent” and a charity fair featuring handmade items prepared by volunteers from the “You Are Needed by the World” project and the youth movement of Kazan Cathedral.

Guests also took part in creative workshops on painting plaster figures, bracelet weaving, drawing, making appliqués, and creating decorative ornaments.

At the conclusion of the event, Priest Bogdan Boyko, head of the “You Are Needed by the World” project, thanked the organizers, volunteers, and participants for their efforts and active involvement in the celebration. He then presented certificates of appreciation to members of the Kazan Cathedral youth movement who assisted in organizing and conducting the event.
