September 22, 2026 – the Afterfeast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, the commemoration of the Holy and Righteous Ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, and the commemoration of the Finding and Translation of the Relics of St. Theodosius, Archbishop of Chernigov.
Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the oldest church in the city of Astana – the Cathedral of Sts. Constantine and Helen.
Concelebrating with the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan were: Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev), Dean of the Astana Church District; Hieromonk Modest (Drozdov), spiritual father of the Astana Convent of the Icon of the Mother of God “Seeking the Lost”; Hieromonk Silouan (Sinegubov), cleric of the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov in Astana; Priest Nikolai Koval; Priest Vladislav Kovalenko, Rector of St. Nicholas Church in the village of Akkaiyk, Akmola Region; Priest Andrei Ivashinin, cleric of St. Sergius Church in Astana; Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky; Protodeacon Alexander Mokiy; Deacon Ilya Salyakhov; and Deacon Ioann Yanchuk.
Praying at the Liturgy were the sisters of the Astana Convent of the Icon of the Mother of God “Seeking the Lost,” employees of the diocesan administration and parishioners of the cathedral.
The liturgical hymns were sung by the choir of the Cathedral of Sts. Constantine and Helen under the direction of N. Mazurina.
After the Communion verse, Hieromonk Silouan (Sinegubov) delivered a sermon.
The Liturgy concluded with a service of glorification in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos.
Metropolitan Alexander thanked the clergy and parishioners for their common prayer and delivered words of instruction.
The hierarch sprinkled the faithful with holy water.
