February 22-23, 2025 – Moscow. The final stage of the II Interdisciplinary Universiade “Theology and Humanities” was held in the main building of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University for the Humanities (PSTGU).

The event, organized by the Faculty of Theology of PSTGU, is conducted as an academic competition and serves as a platform for young researchers in Christian theological studies to meet and exchange ideas.

The forum brought together students of humanities disciplines from both secular and theological educational institutions in Russia and Kazakhstan. This year, out of more than 200 participants, 35 students from 21 universities were invited to Moscow.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Deacon Roman Karaman, a fourth-year student of the Pastoral Department of the Almaty Theological Seminary, took part in the Universiade.

Before the academic competition began, N.K. Antonov, Candidate of Theology, Head of the Strategic Development Department of PSTGU, and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Systematic Theology and Patrology, conveyed greetings from the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Protopriest Pavel Khondzinsky, to the participants and provided instructions on the format of the in-person round.

The competition then commenced, where for three hours, contestants engaged in essay writing on proposed topics across various academic disciplines.

On February 23, the finalists participated in a workshop on “The Specificity of Christian Expression in the 20th Century”, led by professors from the Faculty of Theology.

At the conclusion of the event, an awards ceremony for the winners, prize-winners, and participants of the Universiade was held in the university’s assembly hall, led by PSTGU’s Vice-Rector for Research, Protopriest Konstantin Polskov.

Following the decision of the competition commission, Deacon Roman Karaman, a student of the Almaty Theological Seminary, was named a prize-winner of the scientific competition.
