An Intellectual Quiz Dedicated to the Memory of Saint Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Held in Astana

March 25, 2025. Astana. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, an Orthodox quiz dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the repose of Saint Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, was held at the Spiritual and Cultural Center named after the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius.

The organizers of the intellectual competition were: the Department for Youth Affairs of the Kokshetau and Akmola Diocese, and the Department of Religious Education and Catechization of the Petropavlovsk and Bulaevo Diocese.

Participants of the quiz included: students of the Almaty Orthodox Theological Seminary and representatives of Orthodox youth clubs from the dioceses of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.

The jury included: Sacristan of the Dormition Cathedral in Astana Hieromonk Dimitry (Baydek); Head of the Youth Affairs Commission of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, Priest Georgy Rublinsky; and Head of the Astana Orthodox Youth Movement, Priest Sergy Dianov.

The event was hosted by the Head of the Department for Youth Affairs of the Kokshetau Diocese, M. Safin.

Hieromonk Dimitry (Baydek) opened the event with welcoming remarks about the life and labors of Saint Tikhon.

After the conclusion of the intellectual competition, the jury summed up the results and announced the winners:

1st place – the junior class team of the Almaty Orthodox Theological Seminary;

2nd place – the team of the Astana Orthodox Youth Movement;

3rd place – the group “Radonezh” from the Petropavlovsk Diocese.

At the close of the event, the chairman of the jury, Hieromonk Dimitry (Baydek), addressed the participants with parting words and presented certificates and commemorative gifts to the winners.
