Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen took part in the celebration of the anniversary of the birth of A.S. Pushkin

June 6, 2025. Almaty. According to established tradition, on the birthday of the literary genius, admirers of his work gathered at the monument to the poet near the building of the Academy of Sciences.

Among those present were representatives of the creative and scientific intelligentsia; students; staff of the Consulate General of Russia; and representatives of the organization “Russian House” in the Southern capital.

The Chancellor of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, took part in the event. The hierarch delivered a speech on the significance of Russian literature, after which he read A.S. Pushkin’s poem To the Slanderers of Russia and I.I. Brodsky’s poem My People.

At the monument, the poet’s verses were recited, romances and songs were performed, and student youth staged scenes based on his works.
