Metropolitan Alexander held a working meeting dedicated to preparations for the opening of theological courses for monastics of the Metropolis of Kazakhstan

11 June 2025. Almaty. At the Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) Administrative and Spiritual-Cultural Center, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan chaired a meeting of the working group responsible for preparing the opening of theological courses for monastics of the Metropolis of Kazakhstan.

The meeting was attended by: Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan, Vicar of the Astana Diocese; Protopriest Yevgeny Ivanov, Rector of the Almaty Theological Seminary, Head of the Information and Publishing Department of the Metropolis; Priest Georgy Sidorov, Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Head of the Metropolis, Secretary of the Church History Department of the Seminary; Priest Daniil Bobylev, Head of the Correspondence Department of the Seminary; Hieromonk Gennady (Solovyov), Cleric of the Church of Saint John the Theologian in Almaty; Priest Alexander Shishlov, Head of the Seminary Office; Protodeacon Roman Golovin, Head of the Metropolitan’s Protocol Service.

Before the meeting began, the archpastor greeted the attendees and outlined the current tasks facing the working group members.

Bishop Klavdian and Protopriest Yevgeny Ivanov informed the Head of the Metropolis about the progress in preparing the theological courses for monastics at the Almaty Theological Seminary.

Priest Daniil Bobylev reported on the main provisions of the document on basic training courses for monastics, approved by the decision of the Holy Synod on 28 December 2017 (Journal No. 114).

Hieromonk Gennady (Solovyov) informed the attendees about current experience in organizing educational courses for monastics at the theological institutions of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Having reviewed the information presented by the working group members, Metropolitan Alexander voiced his proposals on organizing the educational process of the courses for monastics and then gave appropriate instructions to the participants of the meeting.
