Athletes of the “Nevsky” Sports Club Won Seven Medals at the Republican Freestyle Wrestling Tournament for Boys

On September 20–21, 2025, the Open Republican Tournament in freestyle wrestling among cadets, junior and senior boys was held in Almaty.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, athletes from the sports club dedicated to the Holy Right-Believing Prince Alexander Nevsky at St. Nicholas Cathedral of the Southern Capital took part in the competition. The head and coach of the club is Deacon Alexander Voronin.

The tournament brought together young athletes from Almaty and the Almaty Region, who competed in several weight categories.

As a result of the tournament, the athletes from the “Nevsky” club took prize-winning places. The winners were:

• Ivan Yezhov, Ibragim Khadirov, Alexey Sobolev, Yegor Yashchenko – gold medals;
• Ratmir Sabirov – silver medal;
• Ruslan Khamrayev, Nikolai Tikhomirov – bronze medals.
