On September 29, 2025, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan made a pilgrimage to the Holy Trinity–St. Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad.

The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was accompanied by: Archpriest Evgeny Ivanov, Rector of the Almaty Theological Seminary, Head of the Information and Publishing Department of the Metropolitan District, Candidate of Theology, Igumen Agafangel (Gagua), Pro-Rector of the Almaty Theological Seminary, Candidate of Theology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Professor N.A. Daikhes, Director of the National Medical Research Center of Otorhinolaryngology of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.

Upon arrival at the Lavra, His Eminence offered prayers before one of the greatest Orthodox shrines – the icon of the Life-Giving Trinity, written by St. Andrei Rublev in the first third of the 15th century – and before the honorable relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh, the Abbot of the Russian Land, resting in the Trinity Cathedral of the monastery.

The Metropolitan venerated numerous holy relics and sacred items housed in the Serapion Chamber and the Nikon Side-Chapel, among them: the relics of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called, the Protomartyr Archdeacon Stephen, a portion of the Robe of the Mother of God, a stone from the Holy Sepulchre, the head of St. Isaiah of Rostov.

Before the sacred treasures of the Lavra, the archpastor offered fervent prayers for the episcopate, clergy, monastics and laity of the Metropolitan District, as well as for peace and the well-being of Kazakhstan.
