September 28, 2025. Almaty. A Republican freestyle wrestling tournament was held at the Zerdeli Sports Complex.
The competition was held among junior athletes under the age of 20 across several weight categories. More than 100 young wrestlers from the city of Almaty and the Almaty region took part in the tournament.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the tournament included participants from the sports club in honor of Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky at the St. Nicholas Cathedral in Almaty. The head and coach of the club is Deacon Alexander Voronin.
As a result of the tournament, Stepan Vyskrebov, a student of the Orthodox sports club Nevsky, won a silver medal.
