Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen takes part in the joint meeting of the Synodal Biblical and Theological Commission and the Inter-Council Presence’s Commission on Theology and Theological Education

September 29, 2025. Under the chairmanship of Bishop Methodius of Yegoryevsk, a joint meeting of the Synodal Biblical and Theological Commission of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Commission on Theology and Theological Education of the Inter-Council Presence was held via videoconference.

Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen took part in the plenary session.

The meeting addressed subject-specific issues of the commissions’ work, as well as the current status of assignments under review from the Supreme Church Authority. The main agenda item was a report by Bishop Methodius of Yegoryevsk on a draft document dedicated to the theological understanding of theories of evolution.

Following the report, a discussion was held with the aim of developing a further plan of action to fulfill the tasks assigned to the commissions.
