A Children’s Quiz on “Ancient World History” Held at the Vladimir Parish of Chemolgan Station

October 5, 2025. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, a school quiz titled “Ancient World History” was held at the Vladimir parish of Chemolgan station, dedicated to Ancient Greek civilization.

Teams of students from Sunday schools of the Almaty Diocese took part in the event.

Before the intellectual contest began, R.F. Sabirova, a lecturer at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, gave a talk to the children about Archimedes – the ancient Greek scholar, engineer, and mathematician who made numerous discoveries in geometry, mechanics, and hydrostatics, and who also anticipated many concepts of mathematical analysis.

Following the lecture, the participants answered questions related to the history of Ancient Greece, solved problems, wrote a dictation, and played themed board games.

Based on the results of the quiz, the winning teams were recognized as: the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov in the village of Baykent the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael in the city of Kaskelen the Church of Christ the Savior in Almaty

All participants of the intellectual competition were awarded books on the history of Ancient Greece, donated by the Almaty Diocesan Administration.
