On October 19, 2025, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, a youth quiz dedicated to Christianity in Northern Europe was held at the Vladimir parish in Chemolgan Station.
The event was organized by the Commission for Educational Ministry of the Astana Diocese and brought together teams from parish youth clubs of churches in Almaty and the Almaty Region.
Before the intellectual competition began, D.V. Uvarov, a staff member of the Central Asian Institute of Environmental Research, gave a talk about Iceland – an island nation in the western part of Northern Europe. Danil Vladimirovich shared information about the country’s religious traditions, its confessional makeup, and the specific characteristics of its spiritual life.
His presentation was accompanied by a slideshow of original photographs taken during his journey through Iceland.
Following the lecture, the youth teams answered questions on the history and distinctive features of Christianity in the countries of Northern Europe, and completed intellectual challenges presented in various formats.
All participants received gifts donated by the Almaty Diocesan Administration.
