Winners and Awardees of the Online Carousel “Artistic Culture of Medieval Rus’” Announced

On October 26, 2025, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the Commission for Educational Ministry of the Astana Diocese held an international youth online quiz “Artistic Culture of Medieval Rus’”.

The competition marked the beginning of a series of four international youth quiz games united under the title “World Artistic Culture”, dedicated to the heritage of the great civilizations of the Christian and Arab–Muslim world.

Teams of school and university students from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and Latvia took part in the intellectual contest. A total of 14 teams participated.

The quiz included twenty questions on the architecture, iconography and written tradition of Medieval Rus’.

Based on the results of the intellectual tournament, the following teams were recognized as winners and awardees.

First Place

Second Place

• Pure in Heart Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Third Place

• Peresvet St. Michael the Archangel Church, Presnovka village, North Kazakhstan Region, Kazakhstan
• Youths Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos, Rezekne, Latvia
• East–Express St. Vladimir Church, Chemolgan station, Almaty Region, Kazakhstan
• Lastochka Church of All Saints, Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan
