October 31, 2025. Saint Petersburg, Russia. A round table on traditional spiritual and moral values titled “Intellectual Codes and Value Unity in the Educational Space of the Commonwealth Countries” was held in the Tauride Palace.
The round table took place within the framework of the international academic and educational congress “Intellectual Code of the Commonwealth”, organized by the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member States and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
The purpose of the event was to establish an expert platform dedicated to discussing common approaches to teaching social and humanitarian subjects, including history, philosophy, cultural studies and theology, that is, the value-based and worldview dimension of convergence of the educational systems of the CIS countries. Special attention was paid to the role of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication within the Commonwealth. The educational systems of the CIS states must strengthen cooperation not only in the sphere of technological innovation, but also in the sphere of spiritual and moral values, returning to a unified educational space.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Chancellor of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, took part in the round table.
In his address, the archpastor touched upon the topic of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia in the field of higher education, particularly the opening of branches of leading Russian universities, and highlighted ongoing processes in public life of the Republic and in the sphere of church–state relations.
Special attention was given by His Grace to the issue of building a multi-ethnic civic nation in combination with the establishment of an ethnocentric structure, a phenomenon common to most post-Soviet states.
