On 30 November 2025, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the XII intellectual tournament “Kings of Mathematics” was held at the parish in honour of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in the settlement of Chemolgan.
The event, organised by the Commission for Educational Service of the Astana Diocese, brought together pupils of Sunday schools from eight parishes of the Almaty Diocese.
Before the competition began, Yu.F. Sabirova, lecturer of the Department of Mathematical and Computer Modelling at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, spoke to the children about artificial intelligence (AI) — a technology enabling machines to demonstrate human-like abilities such as learning, reasoning and decision-making. AI systems are used to perform a wide range of tasks in various fields, for example in data analysis, speech and image recognition, process automation, as well as in such areas as medicine, manufacturing and finance.
The participants of the olympiad were then offered problems from the Moscow school stage of the All-Russian School Olympiad in Mathematics for 2025.
