On February 1, 2026, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, a children’s quiz dedicated to the Church’s winter feasts- the Nativity of Christ, Holy Theophany, the Presentation of the Lord, and the Church New Year - was held at the parish in honor of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God at the Chemolgan station.
The event, organized by the Commission for Educational Ministry of the Astana Diocese, brought together pupils from seven parish Sunday schools of churches in the city of Almaty and the Almaty Region.
Before the start of the intellectual competition, the children’s puppet theater Zazerkalye (director N. P. Maibo) presented the audience with a performance entitled The Snow Queen, based on the fairy tale by the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen.
Afterward, the participants answered questions in a multi-stage quiz, competed in their knowledge of the rules of the Russian language, and took part in themed board games.
According to the results of the quiz, the winning teams represented the church in honor of Venerable Seraphim of Sarov in the village of Baykent, the Iveron Church of the settlement of Boraldai, the Church of Christ the Savior in the city of Almaty, and the Vladimir parish of the Chemolgan station.
Prize places were awarded to the Sunday schools of the Archangel Michael Cathedral in the city of Kaskelen, the church in honor of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, and the parish school of the Church of St. John the Theologian in Almaty.
All participants in the intellectual competition received board games and sweet gifts donated by the Almaty Diocesan Administration.
