XIV All-Kazakhstan Youth Sretensky Ball Held in Astana

15 February 2026 – Astana. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the annual XIV All-Kazakhstan Sretensky Ball, dedicated to World Orthodox Youth Day, took place in the grand concert hall of the Spiritual and Cultural Centre of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District named in honour of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius.

The event was prepared by activists of the Astana Orthodox Youth Movement (head – Priest Sergiy Dianov).

Among the spectators and participants of the festive programme were: clergy of the Astana Church District; members of Orthodox youth organisations from Astana, Alma-Ata, Kokshetau, Stepnogorsk and Karaganda; pupils of Sunday schools and their parents; parishioners of the capital’s churches.

In attendance at the event were: Hieromonk Dimitry (Baidek), Dean of the Assumption Cathedral of the city of Astana; Priest Georgy Rublinsky, Dean of the Kazan Cathedral of Alma-Ata and Head of the Youth Department of the Metropolitan District; Archpriest Igor Shaporev, Dean of the Stepnogorsk Church District; Reader M.A. Safin, Head of the Youth Department of the Kokshetau Diocese.

The XIV Sretensky Ball was broadcast live on the social network “Instagram” on the page of the Astana Deanery.

Priest Georgy Rublinsky addressed those present with words of greeting. The Head of the Youth Department of the Metropolitan District conveyed congratulatory wishes to Orthodox youth on behalf of the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan.

The programme of the evening included the traditional Viennese waltz and polonaise, for which rehearsals had been held in advance with the participation of professional choreographer A.A. Kozyreva.

Lyrical musical compositions were performed by Olga Varentsova, choirmaster of the Assumption Cathedral of the capital.

The ball concluded with tea and a joint commemorative photograph of the participants.

More than 400 people took part in the festive event.
