From April 27 to May 2, 2026, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the IV International Academic Conference “Philosophy of Religion in the East and the West” will take place in Almaty.
The conference is organized by the Almaty Orthodox Theological Seminary (Kazakhstan) in cooperation with the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków (Poland).
The academic forum will bring together researchers from Kazakhstan, Russia, Poland, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, Switzerland, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The plenary session will open on April 28 in the “Throne Hall” (26 Ashimbayev Street), where presentations will be delivered by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan and Alexander Ivanovich Kyrlezhev, research fellow of the Secretariat of the Synodal Biblical and Theological Commission of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The conference will proceed within the framework of three sections:
«Languages of Religions and Forms of Religious Experience in the East and the West»;
«Philosophy of Religion and Post-Secular Discourses: Experience, Critique, Interpretations»;
«Philosophy of Religion and Religious-Philosophical Thought in Russia in the 19th–20th Centuries».
The program of the forum also includes presentations of academic publications by participants, an экскурсия to the memorial house-museum of Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov), opened in the Southern capital on April 14, 2026, and a discussion of the concept of the next conference scheduled for 2027.
