May 24, 2026. Alma-Ata. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, a concert dedicated to the Day of Slavic Literacy took place in the Hall of Church Assemblies at St. Nicholas Cathedral.
The event was prepared by the teachers and pupils of the Central Sunday School with the support of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Among the guests of the celebration were: M.S. Simakova, Head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Kazakhstan; G.V. Cherepanova, Director of the Central Sunday School; clergy and parishioners of churches of the Southern Capital; pupils of the school; and parents of the students.
Before the beginning of the festive event, M.S. Simakova addressed those gathered with welcoming remarks.
The audience was presented with a vibrant concert program consisting of dance performances, musical theatrical productions, poetry by Russian poets, and folk and sacred hymns.
At the conclusion of the concert, G.V. Cherepanova thanked the performers for their labors and congratulated all those present on the Day of Slavic Literacy.
The celebration continued on the grounds of St. Nicholas Cathedral, where children participated in workshops on Church Slavonic and handicrafts, competitions, thematic activities, and games.
At the conclusion of the event, children were presented with books and creative activity sets provided by the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
