On July 6, 2026, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan celebrated the first Divine Liturgy at the newly opened Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Astana.
On this significant occasion, Zh.M. Kassymbek, Akim of the city of Astana, extended his congratulations to the Orthodox faithful of the capital. His congratulatory message reads, in part:
Dear Metropolitan Alexander, Reverend Clergy, and Orthodox Residents of the Capital!
Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the opening of the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh. This remarkable event is of special importance for the spiritual life of our capital.
