Your Eminence!
Please accept my sincere congratulations on the opening of the memorial church dedicated to the New Martyrs and Confessors who shone forth in the land of Kazakhstan.
History clearly demonstrates that the existence of a spiritually and intellectually healthy society is impossible without preserving historical memory and showing profound respect for the past of one’s country and people.
The spiritual feats and experiences of previous generations, including their tragic experiences, are of great importance in strengthening social unity, educating young people, and fostering genuine patriotism and deep religious feeling. These are the values and moral principles that our descendants must inherit and preserve.
One of the key tasks of our time is to preserve places of remembrance and establish memorials and museum complexes where people can connect with the past and recognize the unbroken bond between generations. It is heartening that Kazakhstan demonstrates truly careful regard for historical monuments, continues to develop its museum sector, and widely embraces the glorification of heroic figures, including the Christian New Martyrs and Confessors. A striking example of this approach is the decision by the country’s leadership, represented by President K. K. Tokayev, to support the proposal of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ to establish a memorial church at Lisya Balka.
You, Your Eminence, together with the episcopate and clergy of the entire Metropolitan District, deserve our particular gratitude for bringing this important initiative to fruition, as well as for your contribution to the spiritual, moral, and religious education of society.
May this new Orthodox church stand as a visible symbol of enduring ideals: peace, mercy, goodness, and compassion.
Respectfully,
A. Borodavkin
