On June 8, 2025, in Almaty, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, a charitable blood collection event took place in the church assembly hall of the St. Nicholas Cathedral.
The event was organized by the City Blood Center and the Almaty diocesan charitable service “Mercy,” with the support of the public foundation “ELEOS-MEIRIM” (headed by V.M. Kapsamun).
The event was attended by clergy and parishioners of the churches of the Southern capital, sisters of mercy, and volunteers.
To facilitate the donation process, a mobile blood donation station was set up by the City Blood Center staff.
At the conclusion of the event, tea was served for the donors. Each volunteer received a candle kindled from the Holy Fire brought from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem as a gift.
Earlier, similar charitable events were held at the Ascension Cathedral and the Church of Christ the Savior in the Southern capital.
More than 80 people expressed a desire to become donors.
The organizers extend sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the charitable event.
