October 10, 2026. Karaganda. The episcopal ordination of Priest Petr Pytlovany took place at the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Fatima.

By the decision of Pope Leo XIV dated August 10, 2026, Monsignor Petr Pytlovany succeeded Bishop Adelio Dell’Oro as Head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Karaganda.

The ordination was performed by Tomasz Bernard Peta, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mary Most Holy in Astana; Archbishop George Panamthundil, Apostolic Nuncio to Kazakhstan; Adam Szal, Metropolitan Archbishop of Przemyśl; and Bishop Adelio Dell’Oro.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Archimandrite Sergiy (Karamyshev), Dean of the parishes of the capital, attended the service.

At the conclusion of the rite of ordination, Archimandrite Sergiy read a congratulatory message from the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan to the newly consecrated bishop.

“The leaders of Kazakhstan’s traditional religious communities bear a special responsibility for preserving enduring moral ideals in society and strengthening peace and brotherly love in our common home.

“I express my hope that, through your efforts, the constructive dialogue between the Roman Catholic Diocese of Karaganda and the Diocese of Karaganda of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan will continue, interfaith relations will develop, and joint charitable and educational projects will be brought to fruition.

“I wish you, Your Excellency, peace, the mercy of the Lord, strength of soul and body, and blessed success in your episcopal ministry,” the congratulatory message from the Head of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District stated, in particular.

On behalf of Metropolitan Alexander, the Dean of the Capital Church District presented Bishop Petr with an icon of the Most Holy Theotokos of Astana-Pochaev, wishing him God’s help in his forthcoming ministry.
